The UPFA Parliamentary Group has decided to appoint MP Dinesh Gunawardena as the Leader of House at the next Parliamentary session.

Government Spokesman MP Keheliya Rambukwella said that the UPFA parliamentary group and the MPs of several other parties supporting them gathered for a meeting at Prime Minister’s Office this morning.

“It was unanimously decided to appoint MP Dinesh Gunawardena as the Leader of the House,” he told reporters after meeting today (3).

He stated that they are presently working towards obtaining all privileges and facilities that should be accorded to him as the Leader of the House.

Rambukwella also said that it was decided during the meeting to postpone the appointment of the Chief Government Whip by a couple of days.

He said that several political parties have united with the UPFA and that so far there have been absolutely no issues between them with regard to the Cabinet or the appointing of the new Cabinet.
