Minister Tiran seeks public support to eliminate drug trafficking by end-June 2024

Minister of Public Security Tiran Alles has urged the public to corporate with the Police in its efforts to tackle all underworld and drug-related activities.

Speaking at an event in Ambalangoda on Saturday (16 Dec.), the Minister asserted that he will not sway from his goal to eradicate all underworld activities in Sri Lanka.

He also mentioned that island-wide operations would be carried out starting Sunday (17 Dec.) to combat organized crimes and drug peddling.

“We are implementing these operations very strictly. Regardless of what any high-profile personnel says, I will not allow for drug-dealers to be safeguarded. I have given the police only until 30 June. By 30 June, there should be a complete change in respect of drugs and underworld activities in this country”, Minister Alles charged.

Speaking further, the Minister also noted that his goal will not be wavered by potential attacks via social media. “If they think that they can stop us by doing such things, that won’t happen”, he assured.
