IMF delegation reviews progress of CEB, CPC operations

The visiting delegates of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) held a discussion on Tuesday (March 12) at the Ministry of Power and Energy to review the progress of Ceylon Electricity Board (CEB) and the Ceylon Petroleum Corporation (CPC) operations and commitments. 

 

The delegation led by Peter Breuer, IMF Senior Mission Chief for Sri Lanka, has reportedly looked into the tariff reduction in the electricity sector, CEB and CPC balance sheets of 2023, current financial positions of the state-owned electricity supplier, Minister Kanchana Wijesekera said in a post on his X handle (formerly Twitter).

 

Additionally, accounting principles and standards adopted, Bulk Supply Transaction Account (BSTA) filling automation, dispatch audit to be conducted, outstanding payments, forecast for 2024, CPC pricing formula and CPC operations were briefed and discussed. 

 

Finance State Minister Shehan Semasinghe, officials of the Power and Energy Ministry, Finance Ministry, CEB, CPC and the IMF have participated in this discussion.
