The body of an individual suspected to have been murdered has been recovered from a well near Wellawali Kalupalama in Mandoor, Wellawali.

The body has been discovered according to information received by Wellawali Police last morning (27).

The deceased has been identified as a 69-year-old resident of the Mandoor area.

Investigations have revealed that the deceased had left home on May 26 to participate in a complaint sent to the Mediation Board regarding a dispute with neighbours, and that while he was returning home he had been hit on the head and thrown into the well by an individual or a group of persons.

Wellawali Police are conducting further investigations to arrest the suspects in connection with the murder.
