The Committee on Public Finance (COPF) is scheduled to meet this afternoon (08) under the chairmanship of MP Harsha de Silva.

The committee is expected to discuss the controversial transfer of USD 2.5 million in Treasury funds, which was originally due to be paid to an Australian company, but was allegedly redirected to another party following a cyber attack.

During the meeting, attention will be focused on the report prepared by the Treasury regarding the incident.

Reports indicate that Secretary to the Ministry of Finance Dr. Harshana Suriyapperuma and Governor of the Central Bank of Sri Lanka (CBSL), Dr. Nandalal Weerasinghe, have also been summoned to appear before the committee.

The Committee on Public Finance had previously called for a report from the Treasury on the transfer of the USD 2.5 million to a third party, and that report has now been submitted to the Parliament.
