Security has been beefed up around the Colombo Fort Magistrate’s Court ahead of a scheduled court ruling today (10) related to former Director of the State Intelligence Service (SIS) Major General (Retired) Suresh Sallay.
A large number of Police Special Task Force (STF) officers have been deployed to secure the court premises and surrounding areas, according to reports from the scene.
It is also reported that the wife of former State Intelligence Service Director Suresh Sallay has arrived at the court premises.
Court is expected to deliver its ruling today on a request made by the Attorney General seeking a directive for the Director General of Health Services to appoint a specialist medical board and submit a report on the detained former SIS Director.
The matter was previously taken up on June 4 before the Colombo Fort Magistrate’s Court, when a motion filed on behalf of Suresh Sallay was considered.
Following submissions made by Additional Solicitor General Dileepa Peiris, the court had scheduled today for the delivery of its order.
The ruling is expected to be announced later in the day.
