
The security officer attached to a state bank’s branch in Horana, who was arrested in connection with the robbery of more than Rs. 30 million in cash from the bank, has been further remanded until June 23.
The order was issued by Horana Chief Magistrate Lakmini Vidanagamage.
The Magistrate also directed that the suspect’s motorcycle be handed over in accordance with the court order and instructed that CCTV footage relevant to the incident be submitted to the court.
During the proceedings, the Western Province North Crime Division informed the court that the suspect had maintained close links with the assistant manager of the state bank branch, who has been identified as the main suspect in the robbery.
Meanwhile, the legal counsel appearing for the suspect requested that a summary report be called, arguing that their client was not involved in the incident.
Western Province North Crime Division are conducting further investigations into the incident.
