Showers expected in parts of the island after 2pm

Several spells of showers will occur in the Western, Sabaragamuwa and North-western provinces and in the Galle, Matara, Kandy and Nuwara-Eliya districts, the Department of Meteorology stated.
Showers or thundershowers may occur at a few places in the Uva and Eastern provinces and in the Mullaitivu district after 2.00 p.m.
Meanwhile, fairly strong winds of about 30-40kmph can be expected at times over the Western slopes of the central hills, Southern and North-central provinces and in the Trincomalee district.
The general public has been requested to take adequate precautions to minimize damage caused by temporary localized strong winds and lightning during thundershowers.
