A two-year-old girl has reportedly died after falling into an unprotected well in the Dharmapuram Police Division.
According to police, investigations were launched following information received by the Dharmapuram Police Station regarding the incident which occurred last evening (22).
Preliminary inquiries have revealed that the child had fallen into an unsecured water-filled well located near a neighbouring house.
She has been rescued and rushed to the hospital, but had later succumbed after being admitted to the hospital, police said.
The deceased has been identified as a two-year-old resident of the Dharmapuram area.
The body has been placed at the Dharmapuram Hospital mortuary pending further proceedings.
Dharmapuram Police are conducting further investigations into the incident.
