Youth arrested with 9mm firearm, ammunition and drugs in Waskaduwa

A 29-year-old individual has been arrested in Waskaduwa in possession of a 9mm pistol, live ammunition and narcotics, police stated.
The Central Crime Investigation Bureau arrested the suspect during an operation conducted in the area earlier today (29).
Police said officers recovered a 9mm pistol along with 30 rounds of live ammunition. Additionally, more than 8 grams of “Kush” cannabis prepared for sale were seized from the suspect’s possession, along with Rs. 98,000 in cash believed to be proceeds from drug trafficking.
Investigators further revealed that the firearm was registered under another individual’s name. Police have launched further investigations to determine whether the weapon had been used in any criminal activity.
