
An ‘Amber’ advisory has been issued by the Department of Meteorology for strong winds affecting the Central, Northern, and North-Central provinces, as well as the Ratnapura, Hambantota, and Trincomalee districts.
The advisory, issued at 11.00 a.m. today (04), will remain in effect until 11.00 a.m. tomorrow (05).
According to the Meteorology Department, strong winds of around 40–50 kmph may be expected at times over the Central, Northern, and North-Central provinces, and in the Ratnapura, Hambantota, and Trincomalee districts, due to active south-west monsoonal conditions.
The public has been requested to remain vigilant and to pay attention to further advisories issued by the Department of Meteorology.
