Indian national among inmates killed in Negombo Prison Clash

An Indian national is among the inmates who died in clashes with the Negombo Prison on Monday (06), officials have stated.
The victim has been identified as a 73-year-old male.
Meanwhile, the death toll from the clash climbed to 28 with one more prison officer succumbing to serious injuries yesterday. Over 100 people were injured in the violence.
Meanwhile, the High Commission of India in Colombo has not yet issued an official statement on the death of the Indian national.
Following the clashes that began on Sunday (05), nearly 1,200 prisoners including foreign nationals from the Negombo prison were transferred to other prisons across the island.
