
The Government Medical Officers' Association (GMOA) has presented a set of proposals to contain the dengue outbreak in the country.
A special meeting was held at the Ministry of Health between Minister of Health and Mass Media Dr. Nalinda Jayatissa and representatives of the newly elected Executive Committee of the Government Medical Officers' Association.
During the meeting, the Health Minister congratulated the GMOA's newly elected President, Dr. Chandika Epitakaduwa, the Secretary Dr. Bandara Warakagoda and the members of the Executive Committee on their appointments.
Dr. Jayatissa said he looked forward to the GMOA's continued support in implementing the Ministry's strategic programmes aimed at delivering high-quality and efficient healthcare services to the people of Sri Lanka.
The discussions also focused extensively on the current dengue situation and ongoing efforts to contain the outbreak. The two sides reviewed the challenges faced by the country's healthcare workforce, including specialist consultants, medical officers and nursing staff, in providing treatment to dengue patients.
Meanwhile, GMOA Secretary Dr. Bandara Warakagoda presented the Health Minister with a special report outlining the Association's recommendations for strengthening dengue mosquito control measures across the country.
