The Colombo High Court has ordered that the case filed by the Attorney General against former President Mahinda Rajapaksa's son, Yoshitha Rajapaksa, and his grandmother, Daisy Forrest, under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act, be called for pre-trial conference on August 31.

 

The case was taken up today (16) before Colombo High Court Judge Rashmi Singappuli, Ada Derana reporter said.

 

During the proceedings, State Counsel Oswald Perera requested the court to fix a date for the pre-trial conference.

 

He further informed the court that the prosecution expects to announce its position regarding the second accused, Daisy Forrest, at the conference, while also notifying the court of amendments to be made to the indictment.

 

After considering the submissions, Judge Singappuli ordered that the case be taken up for the pre-trial conference on August 31, 2026.

 

The Attorney General has filed the case alleging that the two accused committed an offence under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act by depositing nearly Rs. 59 million in bank accounts, knowing or having reason to believe that the funds had been unlawfully acquired.
