Five suspects, including Anuda Janadith Bandara, the son of former State Minister Shantha Bandara, have been remanded until July 27 by the Fort Magistrate’s Court in connection with the alleged robbery of Rs. 20 million belonging to a Chinese national.

The order was issued today (23) by Fort Magistrate Pasan Amarasena after the suspects, including the politician’s son and a Chinese national, were produced before the court.

The court also ordered the relevant telecommunications service providers and banks to provide the mobile phone records and bank records of the fifth suspect, the son of former State Minister Shantha Bandara, to the Central Crimes Investigation Bureau (CCIB).

The Fort Magistrate’s Court, yesterday (22), granted permission for the CCCIB to detain and interrogate the son of former State Minister Shantha Bandara for 24 hours in connection with the incident.
