The no-confidence motion submitted by the Opposition against Minister of Justice Harshana Nanayakkara was presented to Parliament today by Samagi Jana Balawegaya (SJB) Parliamentarian Ajith P. Perera.

Accordingly, the debate on the no-confidence motion brought by the Opposition against Justice Minister Harshana Nanayakkara commenced a short while ago.

A group of opposition Members of Parliament on July 21 handed over a no-confidence motion against Justice Minister Harshana Nanayakkara to the Speaker of Parliament Dr. Jagath Wickramaratne.

The opposition decided to submit the no-confidence motion against the Justice Minister due to his alleged failure to fulfill his responsibility and accountability regarding the safety of the prison officers and inmates who were killed due to the unrest that occurred in the Negombo prison recently.

Accordingly, the opposition MPs, including the Opposition Leader Sajith Premadasa, signed the no-confidence motion against the Justice Minister in Parliament on July 10.
