Paddy Marketing Board purchases 33,666 metric tons of paddy so far

The Paddy Marketing Board (PMB) has purchased a total of 33,666 metric tons of paddy so far under its ongoing paddy procurement programme, PMB Chairman Manjula Pinnalanda said.

 

He said the highest volumes of paddy have been purchased from the Ampara and Batticaloa districts.

 

The Paddy Marketing Board commenced its paddy purchasing programme on June 13, 2026.

 

According to the PMB Chairman, harvesting has been completed in many areas, while harvesting has now begun in districts including Polonnaruwa, Anuradhapura, Kurunegala and Puttalam.

 

He added that steps have been taken to open paddy storage facilities in those areas in line with the commencement of harvesting.

 

Meanwhile, around 120 warehouses are currently being operated by the Paddy Marketing Board for the purchase and storage of paddy.
