A case filed against former Parliamentarian Hirunika Premachandra and several other female defendants over allegations of obstructing roads and interfering with police duties during an International Women’s Day event in 2022 has been scheduled to be called again on November 2.
The case was taken up today (17) before Colombo Chief Magistrate Asanga S. Bodaragama.
Cinnamon Gardens Police informed the court that investigations into the incident had been completed and the relevant investigation file had been forwarded to the Attorney General for further instructions.
The Magistrate accordingly ordered that the case be called again on November 2 and directed police to inform the court of the progress of the matter on that date.
