The General Manager of the National Housing Development Authority (NHDA) has been sent on compulsory leave with pay following the preliminary disclosure of several alleged serious acts of misconduct.
NHDA Chairman Aravinda Srinatha has formally informed the General Manager of the decision in writing.
According to the letter, the General Manager will be prohibited from entering any NHDA office or worksite during the period of compulsory leave.
He has also been instructed not to travel overseas without obtaining prior approval from the NHDA Chairman.
The decision has reportedly been taken after several allegations of serious misconduct were initially revealed, including alleged violations of the Establishments Code and the NHDA’s disciplinary regulations.
NHDA Chairman Aravinda Srinatha said that appropriate action will be taken under the law if the allegations against the General Manager are established.
Further inquiries into the allegations are underway.
