Sri Lanka Police said the main suspect in connection with the murder committed at Huludagoda in Mount Lavinia on August 15 has been arrested along with three other suspects, including a woman.

The arrests have been made yesterday (18) by officers of the Terrorism Investigation Division (TID).

The main suspect was arrested while he was staying at a lodge within the Wattala Police Division on the evening of August 18, police said.

Later that night, two male suspects and a female suspect were arrested within the Slave Island Police Division for allegedly aiding and abetting the murder.

A revolver, 12 rounds of live ammunition and six empty cartridges were also recovered from the possession of the suspects during the operations, police said.

Police said the male suspects are aged 32, 35 and 28 and are residents of Colombo 14, Colombo 12 and Dalupotha, while the female suspect is a 28-year-old resident of Kurana.

Further investigations into the incident are being conducted by the TID.

The victim was shot dead at a motorcycle repair shop on Huludagoda Lane in Mount Lavinia at around 9.40 p.m. on August 15.

Police suspect that the shooting may have been intended for the owner of the repair shop.

CCTV footage has shown two unidentified gunmen arriving on a motorcycle and turning into Huludagoda Lane before proceeding towards the repair shop.

According to the footage, one of the suspects got off the motorcycle, entered the garden of the premises and allegedly opened fire with a revolver at a person who was near the motorcycle repair shop.

The suspects then fled the scene on the same motorcycle, police said.

The victim, a 40-year-old resident of Ragama, was rushed to the Kalubowila Teaching Hospital with gunshot injuries but later succumbed to his injuries.
