
The National Dengue Control Unit (NDCU) stated that a total of 95,035 dengue cases have been reported across Sri Lanka so far this year, with 72 dengue-related deaths recorded.
Issuing a statement, the NDCU said a total of 9,699 dengue cases have been reported during August alone.
The highest number of cases during this time has been recorded from the Western Province, amounting to 50,287. Additionally, 13,843 cases have been identified in the Southern Province, 8,647 in the Central Province, and 7,808 in the Sabaragamuwa Province.
At the district level, Gampaha has recorded the highest number of dengue cases at 20,248, followed by Colombo with 18,842, Kandy with 6,931, Matara with 6,125 and Kalutara with 6,122 cases.
Meanwhile, 76 Medical Officer of Health (MOH) areas across the country have been identified as high-risk areas for dengue.
