Ex-Hambantota Mayor Eraj Fernando’s funeral to be held on Saturday

The funeral of former Hambantota Mayor Eraj Ravindra Fernando, who died under suspicious circumstances, is scheduled to be held this Saturday.

 

Former Mayor Eraj Fernando was found dead at a flat in Bambalapitiya yesterday (02).

 

According to police, his body was found hanging inside the flat, with the incident suspected to be a suicide.

 

He was 57 years old at the time of his death.

 

Fernando contested under the United People’s Freedom Alliance (UPFA) and was elected Mayor of the Hambantota Municipal Council in 2014.

 

In 2018, he was re-elected as Mayor of the Hambantota Municipal Council with the support of the Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna (SLPP).
