
Police have arrested two individuals suspected of being involved in a hand grenade attack on a house along Sirisangabo Mawatha in Dehiwala.
Further investigations into the arrested suspects are currently underway.
The attack, which occurred on September 11, resulted in the deaths of two children.
According to police, an unidentified individual carried out the hand grenade attack on a residence on Sirisangabo Mawatha in Dehiwala at around 3.00 a.m. on September 11.
CCTV footage reportedly captured the suspect arriving at the scene in a three-wheeler.
Police said the suspect knocked on the front door of the residence and hurled a hand grenade inside after the occupants opened the door.
Two children, aged 11 and 17, who were sleeping inside the house, sustained serious injuries in the explosion. They later succumbed to their injuries after being admitted to hospital.
Their 55-year-old father also sustained an injury to his leg in the blast.
However, police stated that the injured man has no previous criminal record.
