Prime Minister Dr. Harini Amarasuriya has stated that everyone is equal before the law and that no person’s status has any bearing on the application of the law.
She made these remarks while attending an event organised by the Election Commission of Sri Lanka today (15) to mark International Day of Democracy.
The Prime Minister also said the trust placed by the people in democracy is being upheld under the present administration.
She added that granting full freedom to the Sri Lanka Police, the judiciary, the Criminal Investigation Department (CID), and the legal system to enforce the law without political interference is essential, emphasizing that such independence has been ensured under the incumbent government.
