The highest rainfall recorded over the past few hours has been reported from the Maliboda area in the Kegalle District, with 103.5 millimeters of rainfall, according to the Department of Meteorology.
Meanwhile, the Delwala Tea Factory area in the Galle District received 93.5 millimeters of rainfall, while 87.5 millimeters was recorded in the Gurudiyapotha Tea Factory area.
In addition, 83.0 millimeters of rainfall was recorded from the Naboda area in the Kalutara District.
The Department of Meteorology has warned that several districts may experience heavy rainfall due to the active south-west monsoon conditions prevailing across the island.
Accordingly, showers or thundershowers may occur at times in the Western and Sabaragamuwa provinces, as well as in the Kandy, Nuwara Eliya, Galle and Matara districts.
The Department further warned that some areas could receive heavy rainfall exceeding 100 millimeters.
The public has been advised to take necessary precautions to minimize the risks posed by heavy rain and thundershowers.
