The Department of Meteorology reports that the highest rainfall recorded over the past few hours was 104 mm in the Maliboda area of the Kegalle District.
Meanwhile, 95.5 mm of rainfall was recorded in Kalupahana, also in the Kegalle District, while 85.5 mm was reported in the Maskeliya area of the Nuwara Eliya District.
The Polpithigama area in the Kurunegala District recorded 85.0 mm of rainfall, while Dammulla in the Ratnapura District received 82.5 mm.
The Department of Meteorology has advised that heavy rainfall may occur in several parts of the country due to the prevailing active Southwest Monsoon conditions.
Accordingly, showers or thundershowers may occur at times in the Western, Sabaragamuwa, and North Western provinces, as well as in the Kandy, Nuwara Eliya, Galle, and Matara districts.
Fairly heavy rainfall of around 100 mm is also likely at some locations.
