The National Building Research Institute (NBRI) has extended a Level 3 (Red) landslide early warning for several areas across six districts.
The warning will remain in effect from 4:00 p.m. today (21) until 4:00 p.m. tomorrow (22).
The warning will be in effect for following Divisional Secretariat Divisions (DSDs) and surrounding areas:
- Galle District: Neluwa
- Kalutara District: Walallawita
- Kandy District: Pasbage Korale
- Kegalle District: Aranayaka, Deraniyagala, Mawanella, Yatiyanthota and Dehiowita
- Nuwara Eliya District: Ambagamuwa, Kotmale East, Kotmale West and Norwood
- Ratnapura District: Ratnapura
Residents in the affected areas have been advised to remain alert and follow instructions issued by local authorities, particularly in areas experiencing heavy rainfall or signs of slope instability.
