Police have uncovered more details regarding the arrest of a woman and a man in possession of more than 21 kilograms of 'Ice' (crystal methamphetamine).
Police Media Spokesperson, Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) F.U. Wootler said the suspects were arrested during a raid carried out by a team of officers from the Hambantota Divisional Crime Division.
During a search of a residence in the Walgama area of Matara yesterday (21), police had recovered 21 kilograms and 810 grams of ‘Ice,’ along with Rs. 500,000 believed to have been earned through drug trafficking.
A car, a motorcycle and three mobile phones in the possession of the suspects were also taken into police custody.
The Matara Divisional Crime Division is expected to conduct further investigations after obtaining detention orders for the suspects.
