Met. Department issues ‘amber’ advisory for high waves
The Department of Meteorology has issued an “Amber” advisory for high waves in the sea areas extending from Chilaw to Pottuvil via Colombo, Galle, and Matara.
According to the Department of Meteorology, wave heights may increase to approximately 2.0–3.0 metres in the sea areas off the coast extending from Chilaw to Pottuvil via Colombo, Galle, and Matara.
There is a possibility of seawater inundation in the nearshore areas extending from Beruwala to Matara via Galle.
Naval and fishing communities engaged in activities in the aforementioned sea areas, as well as coastal communities living in the aforementioned nearshore areas, are advised to remain vigilant.
