Landslide warnings issued for seven districts remain in effect amid continued heavy rainfall, the National Building Research Institute (NBRI) said.

The landslide warnings will remain in place until 4.00 p.m. tomorrow (28).

Level two landslide warnings are in place for residents of the Niyagama, Thawalama, Neluwa and Nagoda Divisional Secretariat (DS) divisions in the Galle District and the Deraniyagala, Yatiyanthota, Mawanella, Dehiowita and Aranayaka Divisional Secretariat (DS) divisions in the Kegalle District.

Meanwhile, Level One warnings have been issued for several other areas in the Galle, Kalutara, Kandy, Kegalle, Matara, Nuwara Eliya and Ratnapura districts.

In the Galle District, the warning has been issued for Elpitiya, Karandeniya and Baddegama, while Walallawita in the Kalutara District is also under a Level One warning.

In the Kandy District, Level One warnings have been issued for Medadumbara, Gangawata Korale, Doluwa, Udapalatha, Yatinuwara and Pasbage Korale.

Residents of Kegalle, Galigamuwa, Warakapola, Ruwanwella and Bulathkohupitiya in the Kegalle District are also under a Level One landslide warning.

In the Matara District, Pitabeddara, Pasgoda and Kotapola are under the warning, while the affected areas in the Nuwara Eliya District include Talawakelle, Nuwara Eliya, Kotmale North, Ambagamuwa, Nuwara Eliya North and Kotmale South.

In the Ratnapura District, the warning has been issued to residents of the Ratnapura and Pelmadulla Divisional Secretariat divisions.

The NBRI has advised residents in the affected areas to remain vigilant and take necessary precautions as heavy rainfall continues.
