A total of three suspects have been arrested in connection with the shooting of a group travelling in a three-wheeler in Halpathota, Baddegama, police stated.
The shooting occurred last morning (27), and investigations were subsequently launched by the Elpitiya Divisional Crime Investigation Bureau.
Accordingly, three suspects allegedly involved in aiding and abetting the crime were arrested at the Peduruwatta Junction and Halpathota areas of Baddegama.
Police also seized 16 grams and 170 milligrams of heroin and a car in the possession of the suspects.
According to police, the suspects, aged between 22 and 33, are residents of Kahawatta, Pallebedda and Hikkaduwa.
The suspects are scheduled to be produced before the Baddegama Magistrate’s Court.
Further investigations are being conducted by the Baddegama Police.
