Fairly heavy rainfall expected in parts of the island today
Showers or thundershowers may occur at several places in Uva, Eastern and Central provinces and in Polonnaruwa and Mullaittivu districts after 2.00 p.m, today (29), the Department of Meteorology said.
Fairly heavy rainfall above 50 mm are likely at some places in the above areas, it said.
Few showers may occur in the coastal areas of the Western Province and the Galle and Matara districts during the morning.
The general public is kindly requested to take adequate precautions to minimize damage caused by temporary localized strong winds and lightning during thundershowers.
