The newly appointed Chinese Ambassador, Wei Huaxiang has met with Minister of Health and Mass Media Dr. Nalinda Jayatissa at the Ministry of Mass Media.
This was Ambassador Wei’s first meeting with the Health and Mass Media Minister since assuming office as China’s Ambassador to Sri Lanka.
During the meeting, Minister Jayatissa expressed his appreciation for the longstanding friendship and cooperation between Sri Lanka and China.
The Minister also thanked the Chinese Government for its continued support towards the development of the health sector.
The two sides also held extensive discussions on the recent incident at the National Nephrology Specialized Hospital in Polonnaruwa, which was constructed with a donation from the Chinese Government.
Deputy Minister of Health Dr. Hansaka Wijemuni, Ministry Secretary Dr. Anil Jasinghe, Additional Secretary Salinda Bandara, several other ministry officials, and representatives of the Chinese Embassy attended the meeting.
