Heavy showers above 75mm expected in several areas today

Fairly heavy rainfall exceeding 75mm is expected in several parts of the island today (03), with the Department of Meteorology warning of showers or thundershowers after 1.00 p.m.

 

Showers above 75mm are likely at some places in the Central, Sabaragamuwa, Western, Uva, North Western, Southern and North Central provinces and in the Mannar District.

 

The general public has been advised to take adequate precautions against temporary localized strong winds and lightning that may occur during thundershowers.

 

Meanwhile, misty conditions are expected in some areas of the Central, Sabaragamuwa and Uva provinces during the early morning hours.
