A no-confidence motion against Speaker Dr. Jagath Wickramaratne, signed by 44 opposition MPs, has been officially handed over to the Secretary-General of Parliament.

The no-confidence motion has been drafted based on around 50 allegations against the Speaker.

The opposition has brought forward the motion, alleging that the Speaker is unfit to hold office due to what it describes as biased and undemocratic conduct in handling parliamentary proceedings.
