Appeals Court president recuses himself from hearing petitions over removal of Gnanasara Thero’s robe
President of the Court of Appeal Justice Rohantha Abeysooriya today recused himself from the bench hearing the petitions seeking to invalidate the decision by prison officials to remove the monastic robe of Ven. Galagoda Aththe Gnanasara Thero following his sentencing to imprisonment.
Following his recusal, Justice Abeysooriya appointed a new three-member bench to consider the petitions, Ada Derana reporter said.
The bench comprises Justices Amal Ranaraja, Mahen Gopallawa, and Priyantha Fernando.
