June 2, 2016   07:09 pm

Former Colombo Additional Magistrate Thilina Gamage, who surrendered to the Court earlier today over the alleged possession of an elephant calf without a permit, was granted bail by the Nugegoda Magistrate’s Court.

Gamage had surrendered to the Gangodawila Magistrate’s Court this morning in connection with the case.

Colombo Chief Magistrate Gihan Pilaitiya had recently issued notice for Magistrate Gamage to appear before the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) to record a statement with respect to the case as well.

Magistrate Gamage has also been sent on compulsory leave due to an ongoing investigation into the allegation of possession of a baby elephant without a valid permit.
