SLASSCOM to hold Thought Leadership Session on – ‘Transition-The IBM Story’

SLASSCOM (Sri Lanka Association of software and services Companies) together with Australian Technical & Management College (ATMC) will be holding a thought leadership session on 15th August 2011 at Taj Samudra Hotel, On Golden Pond, 5.30pm onwards. This session will feature Dr. John Harvey, Adjunct Professor at the University of Ballarat and an Executive Director of IBM Australia speaking on IBM’s impressive journey. This session will be followed thereafter with a networking event among the participants. The event targets not only SLASSCOM member companies but also entrepreneurs, academics, business leaders and professionals.

The session will highlight IBM’s impressive journey for any company facing challenges within the rapidly changing global economy. The IBM Story demonstrates the transformative power of collaboration and the potential to exploit that power to create competitive advantage on the world stage, and chronicles the steps that took IBM from Australia’s leading manufacturing exporter in the 1990s to become the leading exporter of IT services a mere decade later.

”We are happy that Dr. Harvey would be sharing his experience with the IT/ BPO industry professionals. SLASSCOM targets to have many international industry leaders share their experience and believe the knowledge transfer will benefit all in building competences within the IT/ BPO industry. Over the next few months, SLASSCOM has planned many more thought leadership sessions and encourage SLASSCOM members and other industry professionals to benefit by taking part at this session which is followed by a networking event’, said Sanath Fernando,  SLASSCOM Board member and head of the Entrepreneurship Forum, commenting on the proposed knowledge share session

The Sri Lankan IT and BPO industry export earnings have been estimated to be US$ 390 million for 2010.  Sri Lanka has set a target of US$ 1 billion revenue with employment of 100,000 by 2015 in the IT/ BPO industry.
