
The strike launched by container drivers at the entrance to the Colombo Port has been called off after the Ports Authority and the Transport Services Association reached a ten point agreement following talks held yesterday (Nov. 06).
Chairman of the Sri Lanka Ports Authority, Dr. Priyath Bandu Wickrama stated that they had agreed to ten major demands put forward by the container drivers, who since Friday had obstructed the entrance to the Colombo Port with vehicles.
The drivers had commenced the strike due to a situation which arose as a result of a failure in computer systems of Ports Authority, Customs.
Operations at the Colombo Port have returned to normal with the strike being called off, a release issued stated.
