
Ceylon Electricity Board (CEB) workers have decided to take to trade union action demanding salary increments. It has been reported that all trade unions affiliated to CEB have commenced discussions regarding the matter and that they demand a 45% salary hike.
While the wages of CEB employees are to be increase after a period of 3 years, a 15% wage hike has been approved by the Treasury.
The Ceylon Electricity Board Joint Trade Union Alliance, however says that the proposed salary hike is not at all sufficient and that all trade unions will gather on December 05 to discuss the matter.
