UNP Western Provincial Council member Niroshan Padukka today issued a challenge to crossover MP Mohan Lal Grero, for a public debate in any television channel except state media. Padukka says he can prove Grero crossed over for personal gains and not to serve the people.
Speaking at a press conference today the Provincial Councilor claimed that Mohan Lal Grero joined the government benefits and privileges, albeit the latter had publicly stated he pledged support to the government in order to uplift the country’s education.
Padukka says he can prove the true intensions behind Grero’s cross over, in Parliament last week following the budget second reading vote, and that is the reason he issues the debate challenge.
“There will be no mudslinging, character assassinations or insults on private life in the debate” he assured adding that Grero’s reason for crossing over to the government will be the only topic of the debate.
Niroshan Padukka went on to state that Mohan Lal Grero used the United National Party as a “stepladder” to accomplish his objective and that today he has kicked down that ladder.
