SLC is to take crucial decisions regarding Sri Lankan cricket following the South Africa tour, sources confirmed today.

Sri Lanka cricket has had a poor run over the past few months suffering a Test and One-Day International series loss in the United Arab Emirates against Pakistan and later losing the Test series in South Africa.

The most humiliating loss for Sri Lanka was recorded in the first ODI against South Africa when the Sri Lankans were bowled out for just 43 runs, their lowest total in limited overs cricket.

Following the 2-1 Test series loss to South Africa Sports Minister Mahindananda Aluthgamage criticized the national team’s recent performances, saying the side was riven by politics and in “crisis”.

He vowed to deliver a stern lecture to the players when they return later this month from their tour of South Africa.

Meanwhile, Media Minister Keheliya Rambukwella, following the 258 run defeat against South Africa in the first One Day International, had stated that a complete restructuring of the game of cricket is needed in Sri Lanka.

Sri Lanka improved vastly from the first ODI, where they were bowled out for 43, to set a target of 237 runs in the second game.

South Africa however go into the third ODI match with a 2-0 advantage and a victory in Bloemfontein on Tuesday would seal the five-match series.
