“Julampitiya Amare” surrendered to the courts due to the intervention of the JVP, the party’s General Secretary Tilvin Silva stated while adding that if it was a normal citizen facing this situation, the complainant would have been killed by now.
MP Tilvin Silva added that he was not prepared to treat this situation lightly and that this murderous trend cannot be eradicated by defeating single persons one-by-one.
In a statement the JVP Secretary said that the government had been treating the incident in Katuwana which claimed two lives in a perplexing way.
He stated that with the surrender of Julampitiya Amare, the government was attempting to set this whole incident aside and curb the dissent that has been building up against it while protecting those who are involved in the shooting.
He added that it was certain that the government was behind this surrender and that the authorities in Hambantota were also involved in it.
