
In a special operation carried out between 8am and 10pm yesterday covering the Matara Police Division, over one hundred persons have been arrested on outstanding warrants.
The operation was conducted under the instructions and orders of the Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) in charge of Matara Division with the participation of 182 officers including one Chief Inspector, 7 Inspectors, 24 Sub-inspectors, 83 constables, 5 women constables and civil defence officer, police spokesman’s office said today.
A total of 107 persons were arrested following the operation carried out according to 124 warrants including 46 open warrants, police said.
