Marumalarchi Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam general secretary Vaiko has demanded that the Indian government should immediately pack off the two Sri Lankan officials undergoing training at the Defence Services Staff College, Wellington.
Criticising the Indian Minister of State for Defence Pallam Raju for his comments that the Central government would go ahead with providing training to the Sri Lankan defence personnel, he said that it showed disrespect to the people of Tamil Nadu.
“It is a warning to send the two Sri Lankans back to their home from our motherland without any more delay. There is no space for such people who are responsible for the killing of millions of Tamils in the island nation,” he said.
Any delay on the part of the Union government in this issue would cause heartburn against Indian Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, he was quoted as saying by The Hindu.
“The comment of Mr. Pallam Raju itself looks like that of the Prime Minister,” he said and appealed to the PM to be fair.
Mr. Vaiko also wanted justice from the government with respect to the Sri Lankan refugees living in Tamil Nadu. The condition of Senduran, a Sri Lankan Tamil who is on a fast, is becoming critical.
“Before things slip from bad to worse, the government should look into the grievances as many inmates of refugee camps in Chengalpattu and Poonamallee are experiencing mental trauma. The police are foisting cases against innocent people,” he alleged.
Training sparks stir across TN

Activists blocked the Coimbatore-Mangalore Fast Passenger train at Podanur for nearly 15 minutes.
Even as the police removed them from the place, another group blocked the Palakkad-Triuchy Passenger train for about 20 minutes, according to the Express News Service.
Students of the Government Law College in Katpadi staged a rail roko at the Katpadi railway junction and members of the Lawyers Association of Ariyalur staged a demonstration on Thursday against the training provided to the Sri Lankan military officials in Tamil Nadu.
