The United National Party (UNP) today questioned as to how an impartial investigation can be carried out regarding the murder of Kelaniya Pradeshiya Sabha member Hasitha Madawala, when the person that needs to be investigated is a government member.

Even though Minister Maithripala Sirisena says that an impartial investigation should be carried out regarding the murder of Kelaniya PS member Hasitha Madawala how can this be achieved, asked UNP MP Tissa Attanayake.

He stated that ‘thug politics’ is currently prevailing in Kelaniya and that an impartial investigation cannot be expected on a person representing the government.

Condemning the murder of the UPFA member of the Kelaniya Pradeshiya Sabha, the UNP General Secretary stated that such situations had not prevailed in Kelaniya previously.

Speaking at a press conference in Colombo today, Attanayake further stated that Sri Lanka has become the ‘Miracle of Asia’ from incidents of rape and child abuse.
