
The Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption today filed a case against former Customs Preventive Chief Ranjan Kanagasabai in a declaration of assets and liabilities case.
The Bribery Commission filed the case before Colombo Chief Magistrate Gihan Pilapitiya as the former Custom officer failed to declare details of his assets and liabilities for years of 2004 and 2007, under section nine of the Revival of Underperforming Enterprises or Underutilized Assets Act.
Previously, Kanagasabai was summoned to the Bribery Commission to to declare details of his assets and liabilities from the year commencing 2004.
In a separate case, Kangasabai was remanded for allegedly soliciting a bribe of Rs 5 million from a businessman, to issue a licence to clear a container carrying vehicle spare parts, in January 2013.
