Chairman of the Dr Neville Fernando Sri Lanka-Russia Friendship Teaching Hospital (NFTH) in Malabe, Dr Neville Fernando, says that he will take legal action against Professor Carlo Fonseka seeking Rs 500 million in damages for the comments made by the latter regarding the demise of Most Venerable Maduluwawe Sobitha Thero.
Addressing a media briefing at the hospital this morning, Dr Fernando completely rejected claimed that the late Ven. Sobitha Thero had been infected with a bacteria while receiving treatment at his hospital.
He stated that the hospital is constantly disinfected and that a separate team led by a specialist doctor have been tasked with overseeing this process.
Dr Fernando added that after Venerable Maduluwawe Sobitha Thero underwent surgery only treatment recommended by the doctors was provided.
