SilkAir launched its inaugural flight to Colombo joining its parent carrier Singapore Airlines serving the popular route.
With the launch of the three-weekly service, SilkAir’s route network extends to 53 destinations across 15 countries.
The inaugural MI428 flight departed at 0850 from Singapore Changi Airport and arrived at Colombo’s Bandaranaike International Airport at 1005, last Friday.
The thrice-weekly flights to Colombo are scheduled on Wednesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays, with same-day returning flights designated MI427.
The route is served by Boeing 737-800 aircraft, configured with both business class and economy class cabins.
Positioned as a full-service airline, Silk Air offers inflight meals, in-flight entertainment on SilkAir Studio, as well as baggage allowances of 40 kg and 30 kg for business and economy class travellers.
This new SilkAir service will complement Singapore Airlines’ current daily flights to Colombo. Together, SilkAir and Singapore Airlines offer a total of 10 round-trip services a week.
