Survey Dept to be handed over to an American company?

The Government Survey Association states that there is a possibility that the Survey Department may be handed over to an American company.
Chairman of the Government Survey Association, Duminda Udugoda stated that necessary measures had already been taken in order to get the relevant cabinet paper approved by the Ministry of Lands.
During the tenure of the former Minister of Lands, John Amaratunga, a similar proposal had reportedly been submitted.
However, said proposal had been rejected by the then Lands Minister owing to the opposition it faced.
The newly elected Minister of Lands, Gayantha Karunathilake is steadfast on his stance to hand over the Survey Department to an American company, Duminda Udugoda further said.
